Rockin’ the Night Away

As per tradition, the seniors at Lamar hosted a Sock Hop on January 17, 2020, in the Lamar cafetorium for the elementary students. It is an event for all ages, involving 50’s themed games such as jump rope, limbo, and dancing. Everyone who attends wears Sock Hop appropriate attire like poodle skirts, bomber or letterman jackets, and slicked hair or pony tails. The senior students participated in the fun with the kids, playing games with them, helping them with decide between cotton candy, pizza, or popcorn, and judging them in the best Elvis impersonation contest.

According to Class President Khadijah Bell, “The Sock Hop was a success. I am not only thankful for the Class of 2020, but also the parents, staff, and administration of our school. The success of this event is a representation of the fun upperclassmen and lowerclassmen can have when they come together for a good cause.” Thanks to all for your support of the 2020 Sock Hop!
