Dancing in a Winter Wonderland

On January 25, the new gym was transformed into a winter wonderland where the freshman and sophomore classes attended the Winter Formal. The students danced the night away underneath the DJ’s lights. This event required a lot of help, and I am so thankful for everyone who lent their time and energy to make this dance a success.

Around twenty students, teachers, and parents woke up early Saturday morning to help set up for the event. We worked together to move Christmas trees, hang decorations from the ceiling, and assemble a photo backdrop. These props were graciously donated by Lamar’s drama department.

At the dance, students enjoyed Chick-fil-a, fruit, cookies, chips, and drinks that were provided by students and parents. Jigga JT was the amazing DJ for the night, and when his computer died for a few minutes, the students kept the fun going by playing a game of Simon Says.

As always, the much-anticipated moment arrived when our Winter Formal Royalty were announced. This year’s Snowflake King was Wesley Brent and the Snowflake Queen was Elizabeth Scott Bond as Queen. After receiving their sashes and crowns, the King and Queen led the rest of the students in a slow dance to wrap up the magical night.
