The Scholastic Writing Awards organization hosts a writing competition every year for grades 7-12 in the following categories:dramatic script, flash fiction, humor, journalism, personal essay/memoir, persuasive writing, poetry, science fiction, and short story. High School Seniors may do portfolios with a theme with 4-6 pieces of writing.
