Fully Known and Loved
Author: Elana Farrar
The one thing that everybody wants to be. The thing people long for and so very much want from each other. It’s being fully known and still being loved.
It’s so easy to look at your number of likes and followers on social media, to see how many compliments you get in a day, or search for likeness within your friend group. It’s so easy to strive to be liked versus striving to be known and fully loved. I’m completely guilty of searching in the wrong places and placing my worth in things of this world and people. Looking for comfort in places that will only bring temporary happiness and make me feel loved in that moment. I’ve been guilty of looking at my likes on an Instagram post and letting that define if I was loved or not. Letting a number determine how much I'm loved and known when there’s already somebody who fully knows me and chooses to love me despite all my insecurities and flaws. His name is Jesus. Isn’t that absolutely wonderful that Jesus knows you completely inside and out and still loves you with all His heart? He longs for a relationship with you and loves you without end. His love doesn't depend on what you do or how good you were or the number of likes you get on a post. He knows you better than you know yourself and still loves you unconditionally. One thing we all fear is being fully known and somebody choosing not to love us, especially after we were extremely vulnerable to them. It’s a scary thing to think about somebody walking out on you because they fully know who you are and all your flaws and chose not to love you.
“Lord, You have searched me and You know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue You know it completely.” Psalm 139:1-4
You are completely known by the Creator and fully and unconditionally loved by Him. He knows you like no other and loves you undoubtedly. Instead of searching to be known in others and being loved within people, search first in Jesus. Let Him love you and know you truly for who you are. Allow yourself to love who He created you to be. Live in that knowness and live your life in peace as you know God determines your worth and no matter who loves you in this world that Jesus loves you no matter what others say or what you say about yourself. Live a life where you know that you are known and deeply loved, imperfections in all!
“To be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God.”
Tim Keller
