Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Review

Author: Anika Ravi

Need a pick for movie night this weekend? Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery premiered on Netflix on December 23rd and instantly topped the charts. This movie was a metaphorical masterpiece in that the plot of this murder mystery seemed complex but ended up being very apparent. This resembles a glass onion: transparent, even when you do not peel back the layers. What you see initially is what you also know when you reach the center.

The main cast is small but star-studded, including:

Madelyn Cline

Daniel Craig

Kate Hudson

Jessica Henwick

Edward Norton

Kathryn Hahn

Janelle Monáe

Dave Bautista

Leslie Odom Jr.

Edward Norton, who plays multi-billionaire Miles Bron, invites his crew of friends, the main cast, to his Greek Island. Janelle Monáe plays an estranged friend of Miles Bron, Cassandra Brand, who is *spoiler* killed by Miles before the Greek Island Event. On the island, Cassandra becomes Helen Brand, Cassandra’s twin, who accepts the invite on Cassandra’s behalf to determine who killed her twin sister. Helen invites Detective Benoit Blanc to help her on her quest.

I am not a big fan of movies since TikTok has ruined my attention span, but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The characters were very thought out. Every action, wardrobe, food, and drink associated with the character comes with a deeper, more connected meaning that makes you feel like you are watching a real-life version of the Clue board game. This movie is great to watch with your friends and predict where the story is going. I recommend this movie to all of you, Postscript viewers!
