Grandparents and Special Friends Day

Grandparents and Special Friends Day at Lamar School is held annually at the beginning of the spring semester. Grandparents and special friends, such as aunts, uncles, and other family members or family friends, come from all over to see their loved ones and visit our campus.

Students’ grandparents and special friends attend a program that highlights many sports teams, activities, and academic accomplishments. Some groups that were introduced this year included the varsity and junior varsity cheer teams, who won their state championship; the golf team, who won their state championship; the 30 Plus Club; Middle School Music, who played the drums; and many more. Several elementary grades provided special songs picked out for our special guests, and student leaders led the program with devotional moments and speeches of welcome. Afterwards, students walked around campus with their grandparents and friends to introduce them to their teachers and to let them see what a day in the life of a Lamar student entails.

The Journalism staff and I took the opportunity to snap some photos of many grandparents and students all across the campus of Lamar.
