OBX? You have to watch next!

If you have a free day with nothing to do, I totally recommend binge watching the new season of Outer Banks. This Netflix original is about an “off the grid” friend group that breaks the social norms; mixing the “Kooks” from the figure 8 side of the island, and the “Pogues” who are from the cut. As you can probably guess, the Pogues are the working class or the less fortunate people who spend their days bussing tables, washing the kooks boats, and doing any small (sometimes illegal) tasks to gather money any way they can. Hence the name “the cut.”  The Kooks are the stuck up, snobby typical rich kids and adults who look down on the south side of the island. The Kooks bathe in money, whilst also undermining laws with illegal activities. John B, the main character, is the leader of their friend group and the textbook definition of a Pogue. This Pogue clique calls themselves “P4L” meaning Pogues for life. They are on the high risk, high reward chase for the infamous gold connected to his father’s  disappearance. The setting and actors make this show that much more enjoyable and is the perfect mix of emotional, and comedical drama. This show might not be the most relatable on real life terms, but the awkward humor, cliche` drama, and the suspenseful cliffhanger puts it at the top of my 2023 must watch list so far!
