Rejection to Redirection

Author: Elana Farrar

Romans 8:28 - “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Sometimes we think when we are rejected God is disregarding us or pushing our plans aside. I know for a fact that I have been there and I have wondered what in the world God is planning and doing. It could be hard to see the good that comes out of such rejection and hardships. It’s easy to be so caught up in the now and the hurt that we tend to lose sight of the “who.”  We try to look past the storm and see that there is a rainbow on the horizon, but it’s so easy to get consumed in the now. I have a little story to tell in which God changed my perspective.

~ I was cold, hungry, and tired as I was waiting for my dad to come to the deer stand that I was trying to wait patiently for. My sister had already made it to my stand by this time and the only thing keeping us from getting in the car to go home to a warm supper was my dad. We finally saw his headlight and when he reached us we all started on our way to the car. But as we were walking we noticed that a tree had fallen, not very big but was blocking the trail we were on, and of course, my dad had to move it. My sister and I waited there looking at him with our stomachs grumbling and yawning just trying to not groan out loud. When he finally finished we were on our own way to the car and then finally home. Fast forward to a few weeks later, we decided to go hunting one day after school since it was the last week to go hunting. We had to take our four-wheeler this time because my dad was going to a different stand and took the same trail as last time but this time the tree that had fallen was already moved, thanks to my dad which allowed us to quickly get to our stand. Which let me note that we were already running late and we rushed to the stand. I tell this story because even though it was a minor inconvenience for my sister and me to wait that one night when we were hungry and tired, it later saved us time in the long run when we were running late. It’s just like how God sees past the current pain of now and looks toward your future and knows exactly what’s best for you!

Rejection is redirection. God has a plan for everything in your life and is working everything for your good and for His glory. There is purpose behind every pain, and God sees past the things we are blind to and knows exactly what you truly need. He hears and sees things that you don’t. In order to grow you need to experience hardships and trials. Without these hardships and trials, your trust and faith muscles won’t be able to be put into practice. If everything went according to your plan, then you would believe there is no need for God and His ultimate plan for your life. But the great thing is that everything works according to His will and His plan! He has a plan and a purpose for everything that happens whether it be good or bad. Even on your absolute worst days He is still working and turning things around for your good. He works behind the scenes and will never give you more than you can handle. As stated in 1 Corinthians 10:13 “God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand.” He knows you and knows your limits so if you are facing a hard time, find peace in knowing that you can handle it and that you do have what it takes to get through it. So if you are facing rejection, troubles, hard times, lonely seasons, and more just know God has given you what you need and has equipped you to get through it. Embrace this season and use this opportunity to redirect you! God uses what you view as rejection for a bigger and better purpose, for your redirection.
