“Goghing” Back To School

The elementary students have  started the school year off studying the Post-Impressionist works of Van Gogh and Matisse. In Mrs. Triplett’s art class, second graders have learned how to imply movement in their own creations of Van Gogh’s paintings,by using swirls, circles, curves, and sideways lines. These Second graders have also focused on pattern and organic and inorganic shapes while learning about the Fauvist and “King of Color”, Henri Matisse. With the help of temperas and oil pastels, they have put their artist talents and skills to work, recreating their own masterpieces of Matisse’s Goldfish.
