School Of Rock: A Reflection
Author: Rachel Mason
Lamar School has always had a very strong theater department, putting on a wide variety of productions throughout the years. This year, I had the opportunity to participate in School Of Rock, which was one of my absolute favorite high school experiences. Since the very first practice, I have loved every moment of this experience. From the music, to tech week rehearsals, and the brilliantly talented people that I got to work with, School Of Rock will forever have a special place in my heart. While this adventure had many great aspects, my favorite part of it was the people. I was able to create so many new relationships with many different people. Now that it has come to an end, my heart feels emptier, like there is a piece missing. I created so many new friendships and have grown my love for theater. I have learned to take in each moment, and to truly give my all at whatever I am doing. I still find myself listening to or singing the catchy songs that I have heard on repeat for so long. Something else that made me enjoy this show so much was the amount of seniors that chose to participate this year. It was a very fun bonding experience for everyone, and even the seniors who I will not be with next year. I have enjoyed rocking and “sticking it to the man” with my old and new friends. I hope that this inspires you to step out of your comfort zone and to try something new, even if you are scared.
