Volunteering for Dummies: Holiday Edition

Whether you’re a sophomore looking to get ahead or an upperclassman scrambling for resumé boosters, every high schooler (or at least most) looks for ways to get involved in their community through volunteering. These opportunities can be hard to find, but look no further. I am here to provide you with a way to get involved during the holidays. Events happen all over town to celebrate the season, and you can participate in them! 



Here are places you can volunteer:

  1. The Wesley House

    2. At the Wesley House, they say…”volunteering during the holidays packing food and toy bags, you are providing individuals, couples and families with the opportunity to find hope and healing through Wesley House.”

  2. The Care Lodge

    2. You can participate in Christmas at Care Lodge!
      “Every year during the holiday season, we collect a list of presents the kids want that year. Consider hosting a holiday drive with friends and family or at your workplace to help fulfill our holiday gift shopping list!”



  1. The Mississippi Children’s Museum - Meridian has multiple opportunities!

    1. December 1st - Partner's Event-"Merry Little Christmas"

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (DOUBLE HOURS)- You can wear your pajamas! 

  1. December 2nd - Peppermint & PJs

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (DOUBLE HOURS) You can wear your pajamas!

Keep in mind, though, that you have to sign up and have orientation prior to the event!

  1. You can also look to volunteer with the Angel Tree project and the storefront bell-ringers at the Salvation Army!
